Preserving History Through Our Students' Craftsmanship! 🏫✨
We're thrilled to share an exciting collaboration between Mary M. Knight's CTE Construction Program and the Matlock Historical Society! Our talented OWLS are currently working on a meaningful project that connects our present to our community's rich educational heritage.
In our woodshop, students are carefully crafting replica signs of Mason County's original schoolhouses from the 1980s. These include historical markers for New Kamilche, Cloquallum, Jarrell's Cove, Lilliwaup, Lincoln, Grant, and Arcadia schools. As you can see in the photos, our students are using their woodworking and design skills to create these beautiful commemorative signs with remarkable attention to detail.
This project not only helps our students develop valuable technical skills but also connects them to the educational legacy of our region. We're incredibly proud of how our OWLS are contributing to the preservation of local history while gaining hands-on experience in construction and craftsmanship.
Special thanks to the Matlock Historical Society for partnering with us on this meaningful project. Together, we're ensuring that the stories of Mason County's early schools continue to be shared with future generations.

🦉 Celebrating Cross-Grade Learning at Mary M. Knight! 🦉
What a heartwarming sight to see our 2nd and 5th grade Owls working together today! Our younger students took on the role of teachers, sharing exciting math games they've mastered to help our older students strengthen their math fact fluency and number sense skills.
These peer-to-peer learning opportunities create meaningful connections between our students while reinforcing important mathematical concepts. It's amazing to watch our 2nd graders confidently explain the games and strategies they've learned, while our 5th graders engage enthusiastically with their younger schoolmates.
Using dice, game boards, and plenty of collaborative spirit, students worked in small groups to practice their math facts in fun and interactive ways. This type of cross-grade mentoring not only builds math skills but also develops leadership, communication, and social skills that are vital for success.
We're so proud of how our Owls support and learn from each other. These moments of student-led learning truly exemplify our school's commitment to creating a strong, collaborative learning community where every student can shine!

📚 Preparing for Future Success at Mary M. Knight!
Our 7th grade students are already taking important steps toward their future careers through our comprehensive advisory program. Today, students engaged in an exciting career exploration activity as part of their High School and Beyond Plan.
Using interactive digital tools, our OWLS completed career interest surveys designed to help them discover potential career paths that align with their unique interests and strengths. This valuable exercise helps students identify career fields they might want to explore further, laying the groundwork for more in-depth career research and planning.
We believe it's never too early to start thinking about the future, and we're proud to provide our students with these meaningful opportunities for self-discovery and career exploration. Through our advisory program, we're helping students build a strong foundation for making informed decisions about their high school coursework and post-graduation plans.
