    SPECIAL BOARD MEETING May 31, 2023 1PM, posted May 30 8:24AM

    Dear MMK Families,
The month of May is a busy time for schools. We have our state assessment for students in Grades 3-12. The state assessment is the Smarter Balance Assessment (SBA) which assesses or tests student’s in English Language Arts (Reading and Writing) and in Math. For grades 5,8, and 11, students take an additional state tests in Science called the Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science (WCAS).
These tests are designed to measure a student’s growth over the course of the school year and compares our student’s assessment results to all of the other students in Washington. In preparing for these state tests, we would ask that parents encourage their child to do their best, and put fourth their best effort during the state exams so we can get an accurate measure of their academic growth.
May is also the time where we still have HS/Jr High sports continuing with regionals, districts and state at the end of the Month and start planning for graduation and the end of the year activities.
